CFA Regional Boundaries and Titles

World's Largest Pedigree Association- Cat Fancy Association (CFA)

To understand the regions, take a look at the map to the right. Locate your state, then note the number in which of the groups your states belongs to. That number is the region in which you live. You may show any where in the world- but your cat is registered in the region you live.

During the CFA cat show season- from May 1 to April 30th each year, cats of all breeds compete for titles. These titles include:

  • National Winner -NW- the top 25 cats, kittens and premiers (neutered / spayed) -scoring the highest points- worldwide receives the National Title.
  • Regional Winner -RW- the top 25 cats, kittens and premiers (neutered / spayed -scoring the highest points within the region that the cat is registered in receives a regional Title.
  • Grand Champion -GC- all cats reviewing at least 200 Grand Points recieves the title of Grand Champion.
  • Champion -CH- All cats over the ae of 8 months receiving 6 winner ribbons by 4 different Cat Show Judges and not having found any disqualifying faults receives the title of Champion.
  • Kittens in Kitten class- 4 months to 8 months compete for National and Regional titles

CFA is divided into 7 regions: below are links to each regionals website.

Above is the original regional map drawing featured in the June 1998 Cat Fanciers Almanac, in the discussion of redefining the regions titled, "Regional Roulette", submitted by the Regional Boundaries Committee. The original map used is the Purrinlot map with CFA's current boundaries. Several other proposed boundaries were then submitted for review.

CFA does hold copyright laws to the Regional Map itself however this map was hand drawn and created by Purrinlot.

I, Laura as a CFA Persian Cat Breeder- abides
Code of Ethics

As a breeder who uses the services of the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats, I understand I have certain responsibilities to pedigreed cats and to the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA). As a CFA breeder, I am aware that I am representative of CFA breeders in my community. I will breed my cats with the intent of improving the breed and to produce healthy, happy kittens. I will deal honestly with the purchasers of my kittens and cats. To the best of my knowledge and ability I will not, without prior disclosure, sell any kitten/cat that is sick or has been exposed to an infectious disease. I will not sell or place kittens prior to their attaining a proper level of immunity against common infectious diseases. I will strive to house my cats in a manner exceeding the CFA Minimum Cattery Standard. I will ensure my cats are kept in a healthy environment and I will ensure they receive the proper veterinary care as needed. I will maintain appropriate cattery records and will correctly register litters and cats. I will work honestly with my fellow breeders and provide timely and correct litter registration information to those who use my cats for breeding. I will mentor new breeders to ensure they have a solid information foundation.
